This week, Blood Brother hosted an in-store meet and greet with Pro Era rapper, producer and creative Kirk Knight.
We sat down with him to ask him some questions...
Where did “Knight” come from?
Basically, it was a song “Curren$y – Michael Knight” that I used to listen to every morning, that was even before I knew who Michael Knight was. I also have a big infatuation with the nighttime and I’m an insomniac.
How did you come to know Joey and ultimately become a part of Pro Era?
Me and Joey went to the same middle school, Joey then went to a different high school where Pro Era started then he basically introduced me to everybody.
What kind of music was laying around the house growing up and how did it influence you?
Lot’s of Reggae. It influenced me by giving me groove and rhythm.
You say you love London, is there anything in particular you love about it?
The fashion scene, the accents and there’s a lack of stereotype.
Would you consider living here permanently, like Frank Ocean and Mos Def did?
Yes! Frank Ocean is lit as fuck for that. It reminds me of New York. I love the architecture, and of course the women.
Peanut butter & jelly, fan or no fan?
Fan but I like my shit toasted.
Do you believe in aliens and have you ever seen a UFO?
No I’ve never seen a UFO but I believe there are extraterrestrial beingts in the universe.
If you weren’t to make it with music, what else do you think you’d be doing?
I am making it! But if so I’d be doing chemistry because I love exploring the unknown.
Who are you listening to the most right now?
Anderson .Paak, Smino, Mick, The Pro’s, Freddie Gibbs, Schoolboy Q, Frank Ocean...
What can we expect to see from Kirk Knight for the rest of 2016?
Travelling , festivals, new music and producing for some other people.
