Nestled amongst Hackney's Victorian buildings and overlooking London's skyscrapers, Dalston's only rooftop garden is an opportunity to relax, eat, drink dance and see the London landscape differently.
Framed by the city skyline, the rooftop oasis transforms what was once forgotten space into a traditional English Garden, plushly turfed and brimming with herbs, hops and flowers to be put to good use in this year's summer food and drink offerings.
Inspired by Robert Hammond's New York HighLine, the Dalston Roof Park story began as a collection of allotments cared for by a group of local volunteer gardeners with a pop-up bar and a programme curated by a team of Bootstrap staff and tenants, who organised music and film nights they would like to attend themselves.
Since it's early days the Dalston Roof Park has seen a phenomenal rise in popularity, and it's astro-turf has been graced by the likes of Rudimental, Jessie Ware, Johnny Flynn, Basement Jaxx and Disclosure; the same level of care continues to go into their events and gardens. This year, DRP welcomes a whole new host of gastronomic experiences to the roof.
Dalston Roof park is open Tuesday to Friday 5pm - 11pm, Saturday 3pm - midnight, and Sunday 3pm - 10pm.
